A resurgent the Russian player secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an better serve.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
